Why did China's population grow to the point where they needed to control it to one child per family?

Well they're one of the oldest civilizations on the planet and only have so much space. Add to that its a communist nation. All that adds up to a law like the one child one, although the people living in rural areas of China are allowed 2 children. Unfortunetly this law is leading to the throwing away or the killing of poor female children who can't continue the family name, kind of ridiculous if you ask me.Why did China's population grow to the point where they needed to control it to one child per family?
for a long time in China the amount of children you had was a status symbol, Still is to some extent, as persons who have more than one child are subjected to strenuous tax burdens. so the richer you are the more kids you can have.Why did China's population grow to the point where they needed to control it to one child per family?
No protection or birth control I guess. It's also a huge country.

It was not actually population growth but the inability of communism to adapt to population growth.
Well, you see, when a man and a woman love each other...
cuz people didnt use protection or birth control
its because of Communism. they have had to deal with trade embargo's %26amp; due to this , sometimes food %26amp; goods have had to be rationed by the Chinesse goverment. so they put a moritorium on babies a family could have in order not to have large portions of society starving.
they don't teach sex ed. they don't have a proper social services or health system. they population explodes when people don't have access to birth control or are ashamed of getting it. that's why they dump newborn baby girls in the streets.
Too many people, just like India.





Many years of good crops allowed families to have many children. By the 1960's the government could see that if it continued there would be wide spread starvation.





China has started to loosen the rules a little bit now.
China is a big country, its population isnt that big according to its size. China isnt even in the top 70 of the most populus country by density.
have you not heard yet in america in a few yrs like end of 2009 or 2010 there gonna charge families for having more than two kids.
