What is the best way to develop some self control when it comes to schoolwork?

lately i have been wildly procrastinating. i learned in social psychology that self control is a muscle, you use it up for a day and its really hard to make yourself do anything for a while. at the same time you can build it up by exercising self control repeatedly. what is the best way to develop some discipline with school work? should i delete all my video games and spend 3 hours a day in the library no matter what?

i hate that working is always _so_ much easier at the last minute than it is at other timesWhat is the best way to develop some self control when it comes to schoolwork?
The best way is to 'keep your eye on the prize', and admit to yourself that the process to achieve/obtain/EARN that prize will mean you will be performing some tasks which may not be the most fun... then, with each step, admit to yourself that you are making CONCRETE (albeit slow) progress toward that prize.

... oh yeah, ';in every job that must be done, there is an element of fun...'; Mary Poppins hit the nail on the head... ;-)What is the best way to develop some self control when it comes to schoolwork?
I like to make schedules and plan a set amount of time to work. I'll put in an episode of tv or something at the end as a deadline that motivates me to get my work done.
I definitely agree that you should give yourself permission to take breaks. If you stress out about studying for 3 hours straight, you'll work yourself up and end up not getting anything done. So take it easy, and take a minute to run around if you're feeling cramped or tired or stressed.

Also, I like setting aside some time at the library, but just be reasonable. It's good to look at school like a job. You'd spend 9 to 5, around 40 hours per week, at a job so why not do the same with school? If you normally get out of classes at, say, 3 in the afternoon, then spend from 3 to 5 at the library, catching up on reading or whatever.

I'd look at your semester schedule and pay attention to the rhythm of your classes for a week before you firmly commit to anything. Do you normally have quizzes in a certain class on Friday? Then bring that book with you to school on Thursday and concentrate on studying then. Is one of your classrooms empty before or after your class? Then go early/stay late and just sit and read, if you can.

Basically, look at working study into your day, so that you have your evenings and weekends to relax. Otherwise, you'll feel the urge to relax all the time, and you'll never get anything done. Trust me, I know!
I have the same problem, too, and I think the best way is to set up a schedule. you can vary it up every day so that it's not always the same old boring routine, and leave room for breaks and entertainment. Try it, it can be even fun at first following the schedule, you'll feel accomplished at the end of the day
School work is ;[, but it has to get done sometime.

What I used to do was work in a comfortable work space. Don't work with a tv on, but you could have a radio on (if any noise distracts you, obviously don't turn the radio on).

Studying/doing homework doesn't have to be done in an hour period of time. Cramming almost never works for some people. Take breaks if you need.
