What are the causes of frequent ovary cysts? I get them every month severely? Birth control worsens it for me?

The ultra sounds showed them as normal cysts but can they lead to anything seroious? Does obesity have anything to do with this type of health issue? What are the causes of frequent ovary cysts? I get them every month severely? Birth control worsens it for me?
Well I suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome and have cysts in my ovaries. My doctor just said that they might make it hard for me to carry children. Obesity has some relation to ovarian cysts as I have been told to lose weight (I'm overweight) and then the cysts may become smaller.

I have been on birth control for a few years now, so I don't believe that birth control will worsen your situation. I am on it as my periods are not regular due to my hormonal imbalance due to PCOS.

There are some cases- just some- where they are tumors, but can be removed by surgery

If you want more information its best you speak with your doctor, I have a specialist I go to every 3 months. What are the causes of frequent ovary cysts? I get them every month severely? Birth control worsens it for me?
What causes ovarian cyst is that they are products of failed or disordered ovulation. A functional ovarian cyst is formed when the follicle does NOT release its egg, and the follicle continues to grow forming a cyst. An ovarian cyst can also be formed even if the follicle releases the egg, the hole where the egg is released closes up, the corpus luteum is NOT formed, and the cyst continues to grow.

I was told by my doctor years ago when I had them that if one certain cyst doesn't go away within a certain time then they can be cancerous, but most are not that serious and can be easily taken away with birth control.
There are many reasons. Obesity could be a contributing factor, though obviously not every woman who is obese has problems. But body fat produces estrogen, so the fatter you are, the more estrogen you have. Estrogen stimulates cells in the ovary, and when you have an excess of estrogen, there could be some disordered stimulation. The problem can also happen if you're not overweight--a current issue we're facing is environmental estrogens: estrogen-like compounds found in plastics and such, which cause your body to have problems from too much estrogen, it is hypothesized.
Well, the most common reason for an ovarian cyst is an unruptured follicle due to PCOS. Many of women with PCOS have an elevated insulin resistance which can be checked by a lab test. It is called HOMA-IR test. It is recommended to be under 2. If it is over 2 we usually prescribe metformin 850 mg, twice daily. Though it is not a hormonal therapy it corrects the problem within a few months. The drug is used for a (not determined yet) long period.
