My girlfriend started taking it and she doesn't know how long till it starts taking effect...How long after using birth control is it safe to have unprotected sex?
im on birthcontrol and my GYN [female doctor] said to be careful ONE MONTH.. but unprotected is never safe, birthcontrol is not 100% effective so watch the way you use the word safe :) but me and my man started havinq unprotected from day one im not preg, but i would NOT reccommend it and wait a month like the doctors say :)How long after using birth control is it safe to have unprotected sex?
You should use another form of birth control for the first month that she is on birth control. After that, as long as she takes the pill consistently and correctly, it should be 99% effective. Even if taken properly, birth control pills do have a slight failure rate.
Generally it takes 3 months for her body to become used to the birth control. My doctor told me to wait 3 months before having unprotected sex after first taking the pill.
It should say on the leaflet she got inside the pill packet, but usually it is about 1 week
