Why is it when I press one button on my digital TV remote control, it does something completely different?

Example - I just pressed the volume button and EPG came up. Sometimes I tried to change the channel and the volume goes up. Does anyone else have this problem???Why is it when I press one button on my digital TV remote control, it does something completely different?
there is aa bad soul in your romote control ';jok'; :dWhy is it when I press one button on my digital TV remote control, it does something completely different?
Sounds like you need new batteries in it.
Looks like you have not put the right code for the remote

to work properly or some how the code has been removed.

Look in the book you got with TV for original remote.Or ask in another question on Q%26amp;A,giving your tv model detales.

Good luck.
Change the batteries,

also if it's a programable one then you may need to reprogram the key
ours does it sometimes i think it might have something to do with when you change from anaglogue to digital theres a sound difference and your tv remote responds to this
Maybe its skipping all the repeats.
i had a remote that did this and it wasn't due to batteries, it was just a buggered remote. although reading about it on line you might be able to fix it. take it apart, unscrew and use the blade of a knife in the crack to help seperate the top from the bottom, take note of where the pieces belong so you know how to put it back together properly. clean the circut board and keypad from dust and grease with some rubbing alcohl and a cotton ball. then follow the instructions on this page. hope it works for you.

it can do that when your batteries are low.
Telewest/NTL boxes are notorious for doing this when the batteries are low.
