I have tried mediating, it doesnt work. Is there anything I can do that can relieve the chest pounding and dizziness without going back on the drugs?Anxiety: How can I control it naturally?
Ughhh, I was on Lexapro for 4 months and I felt like such a zombie, not to crack on the pharms. Meditating is something that really takes time to master and is more of a preventive measure than an quick solution.
Abdominal breathing is a great way to stabilize the amounts of oxygen and CO2 in your blood and reduce your heart rate. If you've never tried it , put one hand on your stomach and one hand on your chest. Breathe in using your stomach muscles and diaphragm to make the hand on your stomach move and not the one on your chest. It's not just deep breathing, it's a more effective way to normalize the amount of oxygen in the blood and get you back to normal quicker.
I also just like to visualize...a lot of my anxiety strikes when I am away from home and way out of my comfort zone...so I just go home in my mind and make coffee or do laundry. If I just think about getting the filter, a cup for the water, scooping the coffee-I dunno, usually I get less and less aware that I am freaking out and realllly in the mood for coffee.
And if all else fails we've always got our paper bags, don't we?
Good luck, I don't know if I will ever get over anxiety but each time I have a panic attack and get over it I am that much more confident that I can defeat the next one.Anxiety: How can I control it naturally?
Therapy.
A therapist can assist you in learning different behavioral and cognitive techniques to cope with anxiety. Also, they can help you label triggers which escalate your anxiety, and help you learn more adaptive coping strategies for dealing with future stressors.
I agree, too, that therapy in conjunction with medication is sometimes your best bet. I understand the different frustrations associated with meds, but sometimes it's the best alternative. And psychopharmalogical meds are most effective when paired with therapy.
There's my 2 cents; I hope this helps.
Sorry to hear about your anxiety. There is a program that is getting great results when it comes to alleviating severe anxiety. It helped me, maybe it will help you. Oh did you know that you would get better results with the combination of medication and therapy. But if it's natural you want this program should help. Check out the link below, hope it helps
