Can i skip my period with birth control if it already started?

My insurance wouldnt let me get my pills until today, meaning this is my third day of placebos. My period just started and is very light and i wanted to skip this month. If i get my pack and start the white pills right now, will my period go away? Will the birth control still be effective throughout the whole month? Can i skip my period with birth control if it already started?
I'm a little confused at how you would skip your period, so you must take a pill I'm not familiar with. BUT, general bc knowledge would say no, your period won't go away, but it might get lighter. As for it being effective.... You said you are taking the placebos right now? If you take the same bc starting the day after you take the last placebo, it should be. Placebos are only there to help with the habit of taking it everyday, so if you start up again when the normal pills would be taken it'll be like you never stopped taking it. If you take a different kind of birth control or miss any days of actual birth control, it'll take some time to re-establish its effectiveness. Hope this helps! Can i skip my period with birth control if it already started?
Hmm...if your body is off the pills for a prolonged period of time (with the addition of the extra days given by taking the new pack's placebo pills) I think that might make the pills less effective initially...If you want your period to go away, I think taking your active pills should accomplish that while keeping you fully protected.
