if so, where in the Bible and what doctrine is it because I've never heard it in church.Does Christianity teach believers to be flexible in life; to go with the flow rather than try to control it?
Obviously not.
Servant of Jesus- ';we are not of the world'; You can say that again.Does Christianity teach believers to be flexible in life; to go with the flow rather than try to control it?
It's more about allowing God to help shape your destiny. Think of it this way - you need to knock on lots of doors to make sure you knock on the one God wants to open for you.
Have a look at Isiah 54 - all about God wanting to stretch you and strenghten you, and about wanting you to go into uncharted territory.
no. we are taught follow in Jesus' foot steps and teach what he taught. To become a follower of Jesus, you must give up your worldly stuff and take up your cross and follow Jesus. Mine is to become a priest and teach others like i've taught you all for a month or better. read this, it might help too. Teachings on how to live a good life by God Standards.
Christ teaches us how to live on earth in a genuine human way. The Catholic faith does not make us less human, but more human. It urges us to be faithful to the deepest longings of the human spirit: to be bearers of peace, and to be ourselves to be blessing to others.
Christ teaches a great human life. But is not a philosophical teacher of virtue, and His message is not set of wise sayings. He showed what goodness is by the way He lived; and He gives those who approach Him the power to become good. “But to all who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave power to become children of God” (John 1.12).
He makes us more human by enabling us to draw on the resources of God. He who is the most loved of all is Himself the Son of God, and He lives the life of God as well as the life of man. So also He calls us to become fully human by becoming children of God. Thus we are called to share on earth in the life of God: by faith to share in the light of God’s wisdom, and by hope and love to be drawn to into the warmth of His life.
Those who have begun to live such a life of faith, hope, and love, sharing in the energy and joy of God’s love, ought to share with others the blessing they have discovered. They should pass on to others the good news they have learned, and “spread abroad a living witness to Christ, especially by means of a life of faith and charity” (LG 12).
Tasks of This World
Christ Himself considered this world worth His care. He came into this world to reconcile it with the Father, and He sends those who love Him to continue this work among all the nations.
There are many creative tasks to be performed in this world. Generous hearts have often longed for the joy of being able to do much good. They desire the blessings asked for in the prayer often attributed to St. Francis of Assist: “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon…”
Christ teaches those who come to Him how to live lives which are fruitful, lives which make a difference in this world. There is a reign of God, a kingdom of truth and life, of justice, love, and peace, to be built on earth. There is suffering around us, and there is need to be healed and supported; the unstable world needs the anchor of hope. God offers to all who wish is the opportunity to be bearers of a healing that goes beyond all human expectations.
In a sense....yes.
Jesus taught not to get caught up in wordly things and to live for God. Son in a sense it's more of a ';I don't care what happens, as long as I stay true to God everything will be okay.'; lifestyle...
But not a lot of people live it.
The Bible doesn't say to go with the flow or try to ';control the flow';. It's not an issue covered in the Bible. It does say to stay in the will of God, as outlined for us in the Bible.
we are called to Love, yes, but also share the news
if you must tell someone that they are wrong in doing so, so be it
';Going with the flow'; is very ';of-the-world'; and we are not of-the-world.
