Dry cough, What are the usual cause of it? How can we control it? What it is the usual cure?

It came first as a sore throat then follow by coughing. I have this in about a week already.Dry cough, What are the usual cause of it? How can we control it? What it is the usual cure?
Usually it is due to throat irritation, especially if it was from a sore throat first. Normally the mucosa of the throat should be moist, but because of some infection, the throat becomes somewhat dry, thus more sensitive, shown as a dry cough, usually frequent dry cough.

You can try sipping water frequently, some times this can help. You can also try OTC drugs containing Dextrometrophan, which is a cough supressant, indicated for dry coughs. If it still doesn't get better, codein is a stronger cough supresant, but you will need a doctor's prescription for this.

Hope you get well soon!Dry cough, What are the usual cause of it? How can we control it? What it is the usual cure?
