Why is that sometimes when you dream, you can control it?

I often times have dreams that I can control. Such as sometimes I'm in a dream that I'm very frightened and something clicks in my head that I can control the outcome. Such as slowing the enemy down, or suddenly making myself fly or jump miles away. Even if it's a simple dream and it's not scary, I can still control the people and the outcome. How is this so? If it's possible- could it be that all dreams anyone can control them?Why is that sometimes when you dream, you can control it?

I would think it shows that you have complete control of your life. Just remember you can't control everyone else though - in life I mean.
