He bathes every sunday. So, help me understand why he sheds %26amp; how to control it please. ThanksMy labrador sheds a lot of hair. Any pointers on how to control it?
I have two Labs and they tend to shed at different times, so I never seem to have a time when I am not frantically cleaning up hairs!, l brush them daily which does help, it gets all the loose fuzzy hair off them, the chocolate one tends to be worse, l can brush her all day and still get loose hairs off her, but bathing them too often can strip their skin of natural oils and dry it out, and can cause more problems, but the water does help get rid of a lot of hairs, just try wetting him and not using shampoo, then brush the wet loose hairs out.My labrador sheds a lot of hair. Any pointers on how to control it?
Thanks to all of you for all your tips. I do brush him everyday but i guess once a day is not enough. Will see if brushing him more daily helps or not.
As for bathing him, if i dont bathe him every sunday he tends to smell - but will try and bathe him once every 10 days instead of 7. Let's see :)

I would also have to say start to brush your dog every couple of days. I have a dog with very long hair and he does shed a lot of hair but when most of it is brushed off, it leaves less to fall on the floor! most dogs enjoy a brush too. also i don't know if your dog sheds the same amount of hair all year round, but it is coming up to spring when the weather should become warmer and animals tend to lose more hair to give them a thinner coat so they can stay cool.
He is being bathed TOO OFTEN! (imo)
I would bathe him less...I know he might smell a lot but the shampoo will strip the coat of its natural oils and make him shed more.
Add some sunflower oil to his diet possible, or switch foods.
Also, instead of bathing him groom him iwht a Slicker Brush. It gets rid of lots of hair!
Hop i helpde
mine too! i wish that there was something i could do about it, i have to sweep and vaccum about 5 times a day! so the best i can tell you to do is get out the vaccum cleaner hose and vaccum the dog! thats what i do, it helps a little and she loves it!
Congrats on your pregnancy!
For controlling the dog's shedding, brush him daily. Also, bathing him taht often MAY be causing some of the shedding.
You may already be doing this, but brushing his hair daily will help reduce the amount of hair he sheds. There are some very good shedding combs/blades out there that will also help get the excess hair removed.
Brush him more. That helps to get rid of any loose hair. I'd also cut back on the baths. Bathing too often can dry out their skin, possibly even leading to the excess shedding.
you have mentioned everything except grooming they also need this every day they do shed a lot but this would help
You should brush him every day and if that does not help u can get this new brush that gets r4id of all lose hair it should be sold at every petstore
Get the Shed Ender brush, and use it like every other day... I use it on my dog and it works really good
